K-LOVE

Free · klove.com
Top pick 86/100

K-LOVE is the largest Christian music network in the US, run by the nonprofit Educational Media Foundation (EMF). The app opens on the main pop and worship stream. You can also switch to nine other streams, including 70s through 2010s decade channels, Future Hits, and Christmas.

It works in more places than any app here. CarPlay, Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, Google TV, and an Alexa skill are all official. Inside the app you can save favorite songs, find a local K-LOVE signal, post prayer requests, and watch short Verse of the Day videos.

It is one curated broadcast, so you cannot skip songs or build a playlist. Both app stores list it as containing ads, and the Android version was last updated in June 2025. If you want harder rock or Bible teaching, look at Effect Radio or Moody Radio instead.

Best for: Most listeners who want familiar Christian pop and worship, with a lot of streams to switch between in the car or on a TV.

Moody Radio

Free · moodyradio.org
Teaching 85/100

Moody Radio is the radio arm of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, on the air since 1926. It is evangelical and nondenominational. The main network is mostly talk: Bible teaching, call-in shows, and Christian news, with music channels alongside.

The app is the deepest here. You get shows on demand, podcasts with new-episode alerts, a schedule, and music channels like The Praise and Worship Channel, Majesty Radio, Urban Praise, Southern Gospel, and Radio Moody in Spanish. It supports CarPlay and Android Auto. It is the only app in this list with no ad label in either store, and it holds 4.9 stars on both.

If you only want music, the talk-heavy home stream is not for you, and the busy layout takes a minute to learn. Pick K-LOVE or Air1 for a simple music stream.

Best for: Listeners who want Bible teaching and talk shows next to worship music, in one free app with no store ad label.

WayFM

Free · wayfm.com
Best rated 78/100

WayFM is a national Christian music network with more than 20 stations. Since a 2022 merger it belongs to Houston's Hope Media Group, which also runs KSBJ. The sound is mainstream Christian pop, built around The Wally Show in the mornings.

The iPhone app is the best rated here, 4.9 stars on about 9,000 ratings, and it was updated this month. It picks your nearest station on first launch and works on CarPlay and Apple TV. You also get show podcasts, videos, and a Prayer Wall.

We could not confirm extra music channels, so expect one station at a time. The Android version lists ads and has far fewer reviews. If you want many streams, K-LOVE does that better.

Best for: Fans of The Wally Show and anyone who wants a clean, well-kept station app on iPhone or Apple TV.

Air1

Free · air1.com
Worship 77/100

Air1 is owned by EMF, the same nonprofit behind K-LOVE. It plays worship music, the songs many churches sing on Sunday. The app is the same build as K-LOVE with a different station inside.

You get the same tools: favorite songs, a local station finder, prayer requests, Verse of the Day videos, CarPlay, and TV apps for Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, and Google TV. It has three streams, including a Spanish worship stream.

With three streams instead of ten, it offers less choice than K-LOVE. Both stores list ads. If you want talk, news, or teaching between songs, this is the wrong app.

Best for: Listeners who want nonstop modern worship music and nothing else.

The JOY FM

Free · thejoyfm.com
Regional 74/100

The JOY FM is a listener-supported network in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and Tennessee. It is run by the nonprofit Radio Training Network, which also runs HIS Radio in the Carolinas.

The app has four streams: the main station, JOY Worship, Classic JOY, and LF Radio. It supports CarPlay and has an Alexa skill. Listeners say they use it to send voice messages to the station and to replay morning talks they missed.

Its hosts and events are local, so the extras mean less outside the Southeast. The Android version has a 4.3 rating and lists ads. If you live elsewhere, K-LOVE gives you more streams.

Best for: Listeners in the Southeast who want their local station, plus worship and classic channels.

Pulse Music

Free · pulse1017.com
Hip-hop 59/100

Pulse Music is the app for Pulse 101.7, one station in Des Moines, Iowa. It is run by Positive Impact Media, a listener-supported nonprofit on the air since 1994. The music leans younger: Christian pop, alternative, and hip-hop from artists like Lecrae and TobyMac.

Listeners rate it 4.9 in both stores. You can send the station messages, photos, and audio from the app, and there is an Alexa skill.

It is a small app. The store listing names only one stream, there is no iPad version, and the iPhone app went more than two years without an update before December 2025. Both stores list ads. If you want more than one station, this is not it.

Best for: Families and younger listeners who like Christian pop and hip-hop and want one simple stream.

Effect Radio

Free · effectradio.com
Rock 55/100

Effect Radio plays modern Christian rock on more than 50 stations. It is a ministry of The River Christian Fellowship, formerly Calvary Chapel of Twin Falls, Idaho, and a sister network of CSN International, which publishes its Android app.

The music is the reason to install it. Few Christian stations play harder rock, and fans say it pairs well with a Bluetooth car stereo. The app has song requests and upvotes.

The app is the weak part. The iPhone version was last updated in January 2024, ratings are low and few (3.9 on 19 iPhone ratings), and reviews report crashes and requests that do not go through. The developer rated it 16+ in the App Store. If you like softer Christian pop, pick K-LOVE.

Best for: Christian rock fans who will put up with a rough app to hear music the big networks do not play.
