Pulse Music
“A clean, upbeat all-positive station leaning alt, pop, and hip-hop, free and well-loved.”
Pulse Music is the app for Pulse 101.7, an all-positive radio station based in the Des Moines, Iowa area and operated by nonprofit Positive Impact Media. Its pitch is a slightly younger, more rhythmic spin on Christian radio: a mix of alternative, pop, and hip-hop from artists like for KING & COUNTRY, Lauren Daigle, TobyMac, and Lecrae, woven together with conversations about faith and everyday life. The app is free, streams cleanly, and even offers Spanish alongside English.
For its size, it is a likable, well-made app. It holds a 4.9-star App Store rating across about 144 reviews, and listeners specifically praise the vibe, with one calling it 'great beats and lyrics that I don't have to worry about negatively affecting any of us.' The player is straightforward, the download is small, and it does exactly what it sets out to do without clutter.
The honest caveats are reach and depth. This is a single-market station rather than a national network, so the local hooks matter less if you are streaming from elsewhere, and the feature set is thin next to bigger apps: one live stream, no channels, no skipping, and little in the way of teaching or extra content. If you want an upbeat, clean, all-positive stream with a hip-hop-friendly playlist, Pulse is a pleasant free option; just know it is a small station doing one thing well rather than a full platform.
Is it right for you?
Listeners who want an upbeat, clean, all-positive stream with a hip-hop-friendly playlist, and anyone in the Des Moines area who loves the local station. Great as a simple background stream.
You want a national brand, multiple channels, teaching content, or song-level control. Larger apps like K-LOVE, WayFM, or Moody Radio offer more reach and depth.
