WayFM
“A national CCM network with a genuinely modern, top-rated app, free and listener-supported.”
WayFM is one of the most established contemporary Christian radio networks in the country, on the air since 1987 and now part of Houston-based Hope Media Group following a 2022 merger. It runs a Christian adult-contemporary format aimed at listeners in the 25-to-54 range, and the app hands you that national stream the moment you open it: current worship and CCM from artists like Elevation Worship, TobyMac, and Lauren Daigle, wrapped around the network's signature morning program, The Wally Show. It is free and listener-supported, with no subscription tier.
The app is unusually well built for a station app. It streams reliably, supports Apple CarPlay, and even runs on Apple TV and Apple Vision, so you can push the signal to a living-room screen or a dashboard without fuss. You can pull up podcasts of the on-air shows, browse faith-focused videos and blog posts, and let the app connect you to your nearest local station. That care shows up in the ratings: a standout 4.9 stars across roughly 8,600 App Store reviews, with a solid 4.7 on Google Play.
The limits are the ones every live-radio app shares. WayFM is a single curated broadcast, so there is no skipping, no build-your-own playlist, and no algorithmic mix tuned to your taste. Reviewers also flag rough edges in the podcast section, which does not always mark episodes as played or auto-advance to the next one, and the Android build carries ads. None of that undercuts the core experience: for a free national worship-and-CCM stream with a genuinely modern app, WayFM is one of the strongest picks here.
Is it right for you?
Listeners who want a free, reliable national stream of contemporary worship and CCM with a polished, modern app. It fits commuters and families who like a curated station plus the familiar Wally Show.
You want song-level personalization, unlimited skips, or a large on-demand library. A mainstream service like Spotify or Pandora gives you far more control over what plays next.
