Independent ranking. Every app here is scored the same way. Nobody can pay to rank higher. Free matters. If the best parts are locked behind a paywall, the score goes down. Facts verified Sep 2026 against official pricing pages, help centers, and App Store listings. Pure Flix is now Great American Pure Flix, and its plans were renamed Supporter, Defender, and Culture Champion. The Chosen left Angel in 2024 and now streams in its own app. Design and UX judged from public evidence.

A closer look at each app

Angel Studios

Freemium · angel.com
Originals 80/100

Angel Studios (formerly VidAngel) makes its own shows and films, and members vote on what gets made next. The Wingfeather Saga, Tuttle Twins, The Wayfinders, and Young David are all free to watch without paying, along with a rotating set of other titles.

Everything else sits behind the Angel Guild. Basic with ads starts at $12/month, ad-free Basic at $18/month, and Premium is $20/month or $179/year with 4K and two movie tickets per theatrical release. The app is polished (4.9 stars from 290,000 ratings), downloads work on phones, and parents can switch on content filters for things like violence or language.

It is not a purely Christian library. Angel calls its content values-based, and it includes Dry Bar Comedy and mainstream-style dramas. The Chosen is no longer here. If you want only overtly Christian titles, or you dislike tiered pricing with an ad plan, look at Redeem TV or Pure Flix instead.

Best for: Families who want high-quality original series and films, and who will either stick to the free shelf or pay for the Guild.

Redeem TV

Free · redeemtv.com
Top free 78/100

Redeem TV is a ministry of Christian History Institute, run with Vision Video. It has more than 2,000 dramas, documentaries, animated shows, series, and Bible studies. There is no subscription and no pay-per-view. You register with an email and watch.

The kids shelf includes Torchlighters and Owlegories, and the church history documentaries are a real strength. It runs on phones, the web, Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, Samsung, and LG. The iPhone app holds 4.8 stars, though from a small number of ratings.

Much of the catalog is older or lower-budget, so do not expect new theatrical releases. We could not confirm offline downloads or kids profiles on an official page. If you want the latest faith films in 4K, this is not the place. If you want a large free library with nothing to cancel, start here.

Best for: Anyone who wants a big free library of Christian films, documentaries, and Bible studies without a subscription.

Yippee TV

Paid · yippee.tv
Kids 77/100

Yippee TV is a streaming app for kids. It promises no ads and no algorithm. A team vets every show, including a set of parent-approved YouTubers. It has 335+ series and movies and more than 7,000 episodes, including 80+ VeggieTales episodes and exclusive Danny Go! episodes.

It costs $7.99/month or $49/year after a 7-day trial, the lowest yearly price of the paid apps here. Offline downloads are included, and it runs on phones, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Samsung, and Xbox. The iPhone app holds 4.7 stars from about 2,900 ratings.

It is for children, not for a parents' movie night. There is no free tier. We did not find parental controls beyond the curated library, and one App Store reviewer still skips certain shows. Parents who want a Bible-teaching focus with devotions may prefer Minno.

Best for: Parents of young kids who want a low-cost, ad-free app they can hand over without checking every episode.

The Chosen

Free · thechosen.tv
One series 74/100

The Chosen app is the free home of the series about Jesus and his disciples. It comes from Come and See Foundation, not Angel Studios, which lost its distribution rights in 2024. The app has no ads and no subscription, and you can download episodes to watch offline.

The extras are the best part. Aftershows and Bible Roundtables bring a Messianic Jewish rabbi, a Catholic priest, and an evangelical professor to the same table. Subtitles or dubbed audio cover 135 languages. It runs on phones, the web, Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, Samsung, and LG.

It is one show, so it scores low on library. Season 6 premieres only on Prime Video on November 15, 2026, and we found no date for it in the free app. The App Store rates it 13+, and some scenes are intense for young kids. If you want variety, pair it with Redeem TV or Angel.

Best for: Viewers of any tradition who want to watch or rewatch The Chosen for free, with discussion extras.

Minno

Paid · gominno.com
Little kids 73/100

Minno streams Christian shows for kids ages 2 to 10. The 175+ shows include the full classic VeggieTales collection, Adventures in Odyssey, and Bibleman. It is ad-free and has screen-free audio, including in CarPlay.

One plan covers everything: $10.99/month or $69.99/year after a 7-day trial. You can download shows, stream on up to 10 devices at once, and use the parental controls in the app. Some content is in Spanish, Portuguese, and ASL.

It costs more than Yippee TV and has a smaller library. Its App Store rating (4.5) ties Pure Flix for lowest here. Kids past about 10 will outgrow it, and there is nothing here for adults. Families who want Bible teaching over general clean entertainment will like it best.

Best for: Parents of preschool and early elementary kids who want Bible-centered shows and audio with parental controls.

Great American Pure Flix

Paid · pureflix.com
Big library 72/100

Great American Pure Flix is the service most people still call Pure Flix. Sony bought it in 2020, and Great American Media (led by former Hallmark Channel CEO Bill Abbott) took control and renamed it in 2023. It has a large faith and family catalog with original series and a Kids Ark Club section, though it publishes no official title count.

The cheapest plan, Supporter, is $9.99/month or $89.99/year and is commercial free. Defender ($14.99/month) adds early premieres and exclusive screenings. Culture Champion ($19.99/month) adds a merch discount. It streams on up to 5 screens at once.

The app is the weak spot. App Store reviewers report freezing, jumpy browsing, and casting failures. There are no offline downloads, and we found no free trial on the homepage. The plan copy leans into "faith, family, and country," which some viewers want and others will not. If you want to watch on a plane or dislike political framing, choose another app.

Best for: Adults and families who want a large paid library of faith and family films and do not need downloads.
