Grace to You
“Fifty years of MacArthur's verse-by-verse exposition, free, wrapped in an app that needs work.”
Grace to You is the media ministry of John MacArthur, offering more than fifty years of verse-by-verse expository preaching free of charge. The depth here is genuinely impressive: MacArthur has preached through nearly the entire New Testament, and the app puts thousands of hours of that teaching, plus transcripts and study resources, at your fingertips. For anyone who values careful, sustained exposition of a single passage, this is a treasure trove.
The catch is the app itself. The rebuilt Grace to You app has drawn a lukewarm reception, sitting at just 3.4 stars across several hundred ratings, with recurring complaints about a clunky redesign, download and playback quirks, and features that longtime users feel worked better before. The teaching is world-class; the wrapper around it is the weak point. Depending on your device and expectations, the friction may be minor or genuinely frustrating.
As with Desiring God and RefNet, this is a single-ministry resource, so breadth is not the point. If MacArthur is a regular part of your listening, the free access to his life's work makes the app worth tolerating its rough edges. If a smooth, modern interface matters more to you than this specific voice, you may prefer to reach his content through the website or a broader archive.
