Wrinkly
“A polished, free memory app with unusually deep multilingual reach for its size.”
Wrinkly, cheekily named for the folds you are adding to your brain, is one of the more polished small apps in this category. It leans on games and quizzes backed by spaced repetition, with streak tracking to keep you coming back, and it lands a strong 4.8 rating from nearly 200 reviewers. The tone is light and encouraging without tipping into gimmick.
Its standout is breadth. Wrinkly supports a wide range of translations, including a recent batch of 15-plus Biblica Open translations spanning languages like Chinese, Bengali, Vietnamese, and Yoruba, which makes it unusually useful outside English. Add cross-device sync, reading-plan support, and even school and fundraising features, and you have an app punching well above its indie weight, all for free from Oakwood Software Consulting.
The limits are the ones you would expect from a smaller team. The core memorization methods, while well executed, are more conventional than something like MemLok's picture hints or Recite's voice-first approach, and the community and social layer is modest. But as a free, attractive, genuinely multilingual memory app that families and schools can adopt without cost, Wrinkly is an easy recommendation.
